MKM Racing Productions is proud to have Access Air Ambulance providing the on course state of the art air ambulance. Under an agreement with Access Air, MKM will pay to have the Access Air Life Flight helicopter on the race course for the entire event, instead of being “on alert” from its base in Elko, NV. This arrangement will save precious minutes in an emergency response during the race. However, because Access Air is responsible for Emergency Response for the entire Northeastern Nevada sector, it is possible that the helicopter may have to leave the race to respond to another emergency. If this happens, you will be informed before you start the race.

Having this service on course comes at no extra charge to you as the participant. HOWEVER; a transport in one of the Bell Helicopter air ambulances will be at a significant cost to your insurance company and maybe even you. Access Air Ambulance has a long standing program to protect against these huge costs, called the “Access Air Ambulance Membership Program.” Here is how it works: If you or a immediate family member is sick or injured and in need of Air Medical Transport, Access Air Ambulance will come to your aid immediately. Access Air Ambulance accepts whatever your insurance provider pays. AS A MEMBER YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A BILL from Access Air Ambulance EVEN IF YOU DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE. Therefore, if the unexpected happens on the race course or anywhere else in Access Air Ambulance’s area of operation, you and your immediate family PAY NOTHING if you are a member of the Access Air Ambulance Membership Program. 

Access Air Ambulance will be your air ambulance provider for the Pony Express 130 Open Road Race and the Bonneville 100 Open Road Race. So a one year membership will cover you for the entire race season or any other incidents in their response area (Northeastern Nevada and parts of Southern Idaho, including Boise).

Health care is EXPENSIVE, there is no denying that. Emergency Critical Care Air Transport is no different. When it’s a loved one in need, cost is not something you think about. Afterwards is when you have the time to see what was involved and how much it costs.

Membership forms may be completed up to the night before the race. Access Air is working closely with MKM Safety personnel to permit this. Your annual membership date begins the business day your form is received either at the Access Air office or at the event by MKM.
