A fabulous weekend of “Triple Digit mph” racing! A 50-lap rally on the CALIFORNIA SPEEDWAY 2-MILE TRI-OVAL!
You asked for it, so it is BACK! 100 miles of flat-out SPEED on the California Speedway
2-mile Tri-Oval in Fontana, California!
That’s RIGHT! On March 14-15, 2005, you can take your Street Machine, or your Open Road Rally car onto the high-banked BIG TRI-OVAL for a 50-lap, 100-mile Speedway Rally. Classes will be in Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Sport, Super Sport, and Open Divisions. The rally will be split up into two 25-lap (50 mile) segments, and both Driver and Co-Driver can take a turn at the wheel!
How will it work? There will be seven classes in four Divisions, with speeds adjusted for the Tri-Oval track: The 95 mph and 100 mph class (Touring), the 110 and 115 mph class (Grand Touring), the 120 mph and 125 mph classes (both Grand Sport), a 130 mph class (Super Sport 1), and the 140+ mph class for cars averaging over 140 mph (Super Sport 2). Just as in Open Road Rallying, the goal is to hit your target speed EXACTLY after 50 laps! Cars will ONLY be on the track with other cars in their class and will be started at regular timed intervals to prevent bunching. Transponders will be used in the cars to keep track of the timing, and passing will be allowed on the straightaways. Current MKM Rules and Tech Speeds for the DIVISION will apply to the classes above. For example, to run in the 110 mph class for THIS event, you must meet the Grand Touring Rulebook requirements. On the first day, you will complete all of your practice and qualification sessions, Tech Inspection, and Track Orientation. On the second day, you will compete, with Leg 1 in the morning and Leg 2 in the afternoon. Both legs will be preceded by a 10-minute warm-up session, to get your cars and tires up to operating temps.
Your entry fee includes: The two Race Legs of 50 miles (25 laps) each, plus a track orientation, lead-follow practice session (15 laps), and a Qualification session (10 laps). An ADDITIONAL 15-lap practice session is also available, and is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and LOTS of FUN! That’s 75-90 laps, or 150-180 MILES!!!
PLUS, FOR ALL OF YOU “TRACK RATS” THAT LIKE ROAD COURSES: THE WEEKEND OF MARCH 12-13 WILL HAVE A NASA TRACK EVENT USING THE INFIELD ROAD COURSE! THIS ROAD COURSE LAYOUT USES PORTIONS OF THE TRI-OVAL, AND IS VERY FAST. THERE WILL BE TWO FURIOUS DAYS OF OPEN TRACK SESSIONS INCLUDING TIME TRIALS FOR TROPHIES, AND THESE EVENTS ARE OPEN TO EVERYONE! THIS IS A RACE WEEKEND PACKAGE YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS!!!!!!!
