  • Division Class competition will be determined by the Driver/Co-Driver recording the closest average speed possible to the class speed, over or under.

    • This average will be stated in miles per hour. (i.e., the GS2 [135 MPH] class competitors are attempting to average as close to 135 MPH as possible).

    • Class trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

    • A driver must average within 10 mph of the Target Speed for the class entered to be eligible for a trophy.

  • Touring Division has a Technical Speed of 124 MPH, regardless of the safety equipment installed.

Some Helpful Notes on Divisions and Classes:

The series is based on an arrangement of four Divisions and 15 Classes.  It may appear confusing but it's really very simple.

  1. First, choose the Division and then the Class within the Division in which you wish to compete in (i.e., Grand Touring Division, Class GT3 - 125 MPH). You must have the correct safety equipment to be eligible for this class (see the requirements listed under each Division's minimum requirements). First time Open Road Racing drivers will not be allowed to enter in a class higher than GS1 (130 mph) and will have a maximum Tech Speed of 150 mph.

  2.  In order to take a top trophy in your Class you must have the closest average speed to your Class speed (over or under).  For example, if you are entered in GT3 and you average 125.000 MPH over the course and your closest competitor averages 125.001 mph, you take the top trophy in GT3 (provided that you did not exceed your Tech Speed at any point on the course).

  3. Once your car is presented at the starting line for the first time on either leg of the race, your official scoring attempt begins. If you miss your starting time due to a malfunction or other problem, or if, for any reason, you cannot start with the other cars in your speed class, your car cannot be scored. Under certain circumstances, if you present your car at the starting line after your official start time has passed (i.e., breakdown repaired), you may be permitted to run for no score at the discretion of the Race Director.

  4. You will be issued a "Tech Speed" during tech inspection, and you cannot exceed it anywhere on the course.  (See Disqualification, page 16). The Tech Speed is what qualifies you for the Division and Class you have chosen.

  5. If you are not sure about your safety equipment (especially tires), or any of the rules, requirements, or specifications, please contact the appropriate official with any questions (See MKM Staff and Officials, page 1.)
